Pallavas kings built rock-cut halls (mandaps) with many pillars. Rock-cut Ratha temples of Mahabalipuram, near Chennai, are the most famous temples for their delicate beauty. The other notable Pallava temples here are Kailashnath temple and Shore temple, in Tamil Nadu.
