This Act prevents offences of atrocities against the members of SC/ST. It contains a long list of offences and seeks to punish the offenders if proved guilty.

  • Wrongfully dispossessing a member of SC/ST from his/her land.
  • Compelling to do beggar or bonded labour.
  • Forcing anyone not to vote or to vote for a particular candidate.
  • Use of force on any woman belonging to a SC/ST.
