Question
What was the importance of the Battle of Plassey?
Answer
Battle of Plassey was fought between Siraj ud-Daulah and Robert Clive in 1757. The Battle of Plassey was important for British because by the battle of Plassey, British earned huge profits. Here they placed Mir Jafar in place of the nawab which was their puppet ruler. They obtained huge sums of money from him and even did not have to take care of the population of the province. Now they could meet the cost of building forts and palace along with maintenance of the army. This revenue helped them also to increase their control over India within a short period of time.
