There was no deliberate effort by East India Company to dominate India but a series of episodes that finally led to political dominance. The East India Company set-up Trading Posts and the three presidency settlements.
They established friendly relations with the local princes to further their profits. The Indian rulers signed alliances to secure the help of the English military to settle their internal rivalries. And eventually the East India Company become an Imperial power in India.
