Question

A car moves with a speed of 40 km/h for 15 minutes and then with a speed of 60 km/h for the next 15 minutes. Find the total distance covered by the car in these 30 minutes.

Answer

Distance covered in 1st 15 minutes = 40 km/h x 15 minutes

                                                         = 40 km/h x ¼ h

                                                         = 10 km

Distance covered in 2nd 15 minutes = 60 km/h x 15 minutes

                                                           = 60 km/h x ¼ h

 = 15 km

Therefore, Total distance covered = 10 km + 15 km

                                                       = 25 km
